The cloisonné, and sand paintings are both ancient Chinese art techniques. The former is usually used for adorning metalwork items with colourful pigment that is kept in place or separated by metal strips or wire, usually gold; and the latter has not only static paintings with different colours but also a dynamic live art performance way of drawing the sand paintings. The combination of the cloisonné and sand painting can deal with frosted, matte, sand, three-dimensional and other multi-level effects for the paintings.

Growing up with my grandfather, I was often exposed to many traditional Chinese crafts, including cloisonné and sand painting, although the influence of traditional Chinese painting on me is significant. It makes me feel peaceful and harmonious when I draw. Therefore, in the process of painting, besides using enamel and sand as materials, I also blended some Chinese painting techniques and forms of traditional Chinese painting, especially claborate-style painting.

Each sand painting depicts an ordinary scene in my old memories, such as the cherry blossoms in my town during Spring, lotus flowers growing in my backyard during summer, and the place where I live with my grandpa and the cats I had before.

Then I tried to use some relatively modern techniques to make the paintings move and come to life. In this way, with the background music, in which the general mood is about the quiet life, people can feel the ordinary and peaceful life unravel before their eyes.
